How Quandri supports the Ontario auto reform
Ontario's auto insurance system changes on July 1, 2026. The provincial government is restructuring Statutory Accident Benefits (SABs) to give drivers more control over their coverage, but the reform also changes what Quandri surfaces during renewal reviews. This article explains what it means for your team and how Quandri keeps your renewal workflow accurate after the transition.
Existing Ontario auto policies renew with their current coverage unless the policyholder agrees in writing to decline or change benefits. This opt-out approach supports retention — as long as the change is communicated clearly to your client at renewal.
What to Know about Quandri and the Ontario auto reform
What's not changing:
Your reporting setup in Quandri stays the same. The same attributes you have today are still there after July 1, with the same structure. Nothing has been removed or renamed.
What appears on a renewal summary depends on which attributes you have enabled. If an attribute is turned off, it won't appear in your summary regardless of what's changed in the regulation.
What Quandri updated:
Quandri updated the logic behind how accident benefits are categorized and compared at renewal. Accident Benefits now refers to the three coverages that remain mandatory under the reform. Enhanced Accident Benefits now refers to the nine coverages that have moved to optional. When comparing the current term to the renewal term, Quandri won't flag a coverage as “missing” when it has simply moved from mandatory to optional.
The following attributes are relevant to the reform:
- Accident Benefits — specific to accident benefits
- Enhanced Accident Benefits — specific to optional accident benefits
- New Auto Coverages — supports accident benefits and other coverages
- Removed Auto Coverages — supports accident benefits and other coverages
Configuring Accident Benefits and Enhanced Accident Benefits
For Quandri to include an accident benefits comparison, the Accident Benefits and Enhanced Accident Benefits attributes under ‘Coverages and Endorsements’ must be turned on in your Quandri Platform.

When the Accident Benefits and Enhanced Accident Benefits attributes are turned on, Quandri reports accident benefits coverages in two buckets:
-
Accident Benefits — the three coverages that remain mandatory after July 1:
- Medical
- Rehabilitation
- Attendant Care
-
Enhanced Accident Benefits — the coverages that were previously mandatory but are now optional under the reform:
- Income Replacement
- Non-Earner Benefit
- Caregiver Benefits
- Housekeeping & Home Maintenance
- Lost Educational Expenses
- Expenses of Visitors
- Damage to Personal Items
- Death Benefits
- Funeral Benefits
This split is what makes the renewal comparison meaningful — it ensures Quandri doesn't report a coverage as missing when it has simply moved from mandatory to optional.
How Quandri flags added and removed coverages
The New Auto Coverages and Removed Auto Coverages attributes are not specific to accident benefits — basic or enhanced. When they are turned on, Quandri picks up any added or removed auto coverage on the policy, not only the accident benefits.

Tip:
Because these two attributes apply to all auto coverages, if you do not currently have them turned on, consider whether you want that broader reporting before enabling them for the reform.
